Amazing find for cheap eats and delicious chicken. Just a short walk away from the main tourist area on 5th in Playa del Carmen, Asadero el Pollo is a must-see attraction. From the outside it may not look like much, but don't judge a book by its cover. The chicken is wonderfully moist with a great crust of bbq-y goodness on the outside. You can order more chicken and rice than the average person can handle for less that $5 USD and be out in half an hour.

One thing to keep in mind is that they don't have air conditioning. The fans they have dotted around help to keep things circulating, but on hot days it can get pretty stuffy inside. They also take to-go orders at the front if you want to eat elsewhere, and the beach is only a short walk away.

I will definitely be coming back if I return to Playa del Carmen.

Best thing I had when I traveled around tulum, playa Del Carmen, and Cancun.

Great value and tasty chicken. Went there twice in two days because it was delicious and fresh.

After you order you get your food within minutes. The staff are nice. And I like how there was a hand washing station provided.

If you are craving some delicious moist juicy chicken before you go on that excursion. This place got you covered.

Right across the main collectivo stand (bus stand) is this excellent spot where you could grab a quick meal. The best part is that it's very inexpensive and the quality is excellent. You could have a 1/2 chicken for $3.50 US (70 pesos). The meat is very tender, juicy, infused with spices and cooked to perfection over charcoal. Ours came out perfect without any special requests, but you have the option to inform the waiter on how long you want your chicken cooked if you want it well done if you have a preference. The cost of the meal included sides which was a great deal! It includes rice, salsa, pickled onions and tortillas. They also give you a salsa on the table but we didn't touch it.

There are plenty of tables and the staffs are friendly and polite. They didn't have much/any decor which is fine because we didn't come for that - strictly for the chicken.  The majority of patrons were locals which is always a good sign.

There is an open sink area to wash your hands before or after your meal.  There is a tip jar in the front where you pay so don't forget to tip your server.

Note: They don't serve any beer or alcoholic beverages, so if that's what you're wanting best to order the chicken to go as their selections are limited to coke products.

    Will definitely visit again.

This is best chicken in the world! I had desired to come here for a few days now. I stumble upon this place as I was passing all the collectivos and smelled something carnivorous & Divine. I witnessed a stack of smoke ascend unto heaven. I beheld an open structure with a tin roof where people were eating. I looked around and saw a magnitude of chicken. Could this be Asadero?

Yes it was! I saw the menu: 120 pesos for a whole chicken, rice, salsa y tortillas. Me gusto! The food came in under five minutes. They know they're dong here. The first bite and I knew I was tasting a family recipe that took decades to craft. Then it started to pour down rain. Asado saved my taste buds and also saved me from the rain. The chicken was flavorful yet NOT salty. Muy bueno. The sides were ok, mostly there as a backup role sixth man to the star of the show: el pollo.

    Come here ASAP

A good spot to get some food for a great price. Especially their chicken the best thing and the best in the area. No air conditioning so you'll have to sweat a little but it is definitely worth it. great spot and a must visit!!
